The Client: LiveMore ScreenLess™

LiveMore ScreenLess™ is a non-profit organization that advocates and promotes digital wellbeing for and with young people through a collaborative and comprehensive community approach, promoting balanced and intentional use of technology and social media.

LiveMore ScreenLess provides educational training and presentations, consultation, and professional development to schools and community partners, all centered around its mission of balanced and intentional use of technology.

Website Goals

· Bring awareness and understanding of tech misuse and overuse

· Bring awareness to the solutions and services the organization provides

· Clearly communicate what the organization does and what engagement looks like

· Provide a platform for young people to directly share their experiences

· Establish the organization as a trustworthy resource.

Evaluation Goals

· Determine the gap between who we are and what we do

· Is that gap affecting people’s first impressions and understanding of what we do?

· Find out how to make it easy for educators and education decision makers to understand what we do and evaluate our benefit to their school or district.

The Process

1. Discovery

Utilizing the brief supplied by the client, I spent time familiarizing myself with the website in order to gain insights, identify pain points, and determine possible focus areas for upcoming usability testing. The areas of interest were entered into an initial Affinity Diagram.

2. Analysis

Based on the findings our initial familiarization a heuristic analysis was performed with areas of the website determined to have the most benefit to the the user goals. The findings of the analysis were reviewed and discussed with the team.

From these reviews a script was developed for usability testing.

3. Testing

Remote and in-person testers were asked to think aloud while accessing different areas of the website.

The feedback obtained from participants during usability tests were synthesized through Affinity diagramming
